Caramelized Brussels Sprouts with Green Onions and Cilantro

Caramelized Brussels Sprouts with Green Onions and Cilantro

Ingredients

2 ½ tbsps fresh lime juice

1 tbsp honey

1 tbsp lower-sodium soy sauce

1 tbsp water

2 ½ tsps fish sauce

1 ½ tsps sambal oelek

1 tbsp olive oil

1 ½ lbs Brussels sprouts, quartered

2 tbsps unsalted butter

1 shallot, minced

1 (1-inch) piece peeled fresh ginger, minced

1 garlic clove, minced

½ cup chopped green onions

¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro

Preparation

  1. Combine the first 6 ingredients in a bowl, stirring with a whisk; set aside.

  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat; add sprouts to the pan. Cook 4 minutes or until beginning to brown. Stir in butter; cook 4 minutes or until caramelized and crisp-tender. Add shallot, ginger, and garlic to the pan; cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Add lime juice mixture to pan; cook 3 minutes or until syrupy. Stir in green onions and cilantro. Serve immediately.
