Strawberry Tea

As the warm weather comes into season, there is nothing better than a big glass of iced tea. This recipe uses fresh strawberries to create a subtle infusion of freshness in each glass. And if where you live, there are still some chilly mornings ahead, you can try it hot too!

Strawberry Tea Recipe

prep time: 5 min
cook time: 0 min

Ingredients

4 cups water

10-12 fresh strawberries (finely chopped, divided)

2 tsp loose green tea bags (or 2 tea bags)

2 tbsp honey (use maple syrup or agave nectar for vegan)

Preparation

Make Strawberry Iced Tea

  1. Once the tea is ready, strain it and cool it to room temperature. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours.

  2. Add chopped strawberries and 1-2 lime slices to 4 serving glasses.

  3. Fill the glasses with ice cubes.

  4. Pour the tea over ice and serve immediately.

Make Hot Strawberry Tea

  1. Add water and ½ cup of chopped strawberries to a medium-size saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat. Once the water comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 2-3 minutes.

  2. Switch off the heat and add green tea leaves to the pan. Cover the pan with a lid and let the tea steep for 2 minutes.

  3. Do not brew the tea for longer, otherwise, it may turn bitter. I personally feel 2 minutes is a perfect brewing time.

  4. Add honey and mix well.

  5. Divide the remaining ¼ cup of chopped strawberries between 4 serving cups.

  6. Strain the tea in the cups using a tea strainer and discard the cooked strawberries.

  7. Serve immediately.
